Small Business Fridays: The Nest

May 31, 2013

** Small Business Fridays is a new blog series focusing on local small businesses. Each business involved receives a complimentary short business session. Please contact me for more information. I’d love to network with your small business! **

Today’s post peeks into The Nest. It’s one of my very favorite local stores!  The owners, Donna and Carla, are so friendly and always greet you with a huge smile.

Q: Tell us a little bit about your business. What do you do and what services do you offer?

A: We are Carrollton’s Fun Place to Shop! The Nest offers vintage and antique furniture, vintage inspired gifts and knick knacks, and various home décor. At The Nest we want you to be able to take a piece of furniture home and use it that day. That being said, nothing goes out on the floor until it has been re-glued, re-screwed and re-newed! We repair and paint (if necessary) all of our own furniture.

Q: Where are you located? What’s your contact information?

A: In Downtown Carrollton, Georgia …directly across from the AMP

121 Bradley Street
 Carrollton, GA 30117
770.838.7933

Q: What’s the greatest lesson in business you’ve learned?

A: Outstanding customer service is the only way to have loyal customers! We love getting to know our customers and hope they enjoy getting to know us.

Q: What are some words you live by?

A: “If we can’t be your source, we’ll be your resource”  “Honesty is the best policy” “Always challenge yourself”

Their sweet pups, Luci and Tanner!

Q: Any decorating tips or advice you can share on incorporating vintage décor at home?

A: Incorporating vintage décor in your home is so. much. fun. I have always loved to mix the old with the new; even before it was the “cool” thing to do:)  Oddly enough to help things “go together” you should mix and match. Got a new sofa, match it with a vintage, painted coffee table, and an oak or walnut side table. The key is to try to stay in same era. If you love the primitive looks of the 1800’s stick with that…add a simple bedspread and curtains to match the simpleness of the furniture and you’ve got yourself a great looking bedroom. If you love the modern pieces of today’s furniture then you’ll also love the 1960’s Mid-Century Modern style. Look for a fabulous 60’s lamp and pair it with a new table but keep your chairs vintage…& chairs DO NOT have to be the same! I love a table with mis-matched chairs…something about that feels so inviting.  All in all adding vintage to today’s styles takes a little patience but can be done…just keep searching for those perfect pieces and your home will come together to be the oasis you dream of.

Thanks so much ladies!!
